We have recently been keeping a very close eye on our good friend Scott Marsh, simply due to the very impressive work he has been doing of late. Showing his versatility as an artist, he has recently shown he can rock any spot. Be it galvs or well chosen wall, there’s no doubt this guys got that flavour we are automatically drawn to. With his work in high demand, there‘s no doubt, he’s been one busy bee. We caught up with him for a quick chit chat and to show you some of his most recent works.
Hi Scott. Please tell our loyal MTN followers, where you are from?...And where you gained these dope skills of yours?
I’m a Sydney based artist. Art has always been a passion of mine; I was always drawing as a kid and got heavy into graffiti during my teens. I finished a Bachelor of Fine art at Sydney’s College of Fine Arts in 2009 and have since chosen to focus my energy into my art full time.
Where do you usually work from?
I have a studio in Sydney, when I’m not working inside I’m usually up a ladder, outdoors painting a large-scale portrait. My work incorporates different elements or pop, impressionism and traditional graffiti art. I learnt a lot more doing graffiti then I would have done in my time spent at university, and I think that has reflected in my work.
What’s your preferred medium?
Typically I use a mixture of spray paint and acrylics.
You’ve been quite busy of late. What have you just completed?
2013 has been a mad busy year for me; I had my first solo show (Second Life) at the Tate Gallery Glebe which was received really well, it presented a body of work taking a nostalgic look back at my days spent as a train writer in Sydney. Most recently I was down in Wollongong for Wonderwalls Festival. A great event put on by The Hours and Verb Syndicate, I really had an awesome time catching up with some old friends, making some news ones and being merry… oh and we got some painting done as well.
So what’s next in the world of Scottie Marsh?
I’ll be in Miami in December with my homeboy Fintan Magee painting some walls during Art Basel followed by a bit of a tour of the states, cant wait!
Sounds awesome! We’ll be keeping a close eye on all that is going down at Art Basel in Miami and look forward to seeing how you represent us Aussies. Good luck, Scott and Bon Voyage from the team at MTN Down Under!
