Artist duo DABSMYLA staged their most ambitious exhibition ever in the fall of 2015. Their installation takeover of a 4,000 square foot building in Los Angeles will go down in history. The building, a workplace on the site of the storied Modernica furniture facility, was fully transformed as DABSMYLA lavished its interior and exterior with their newest paintings, sculptures, installations and exclusive furnishings. From limited-edition fiberglass shell chairs and hand-painted ceramics to custom-built lighting installations, each and every element was designed and created exclusively for duo’s collaboration with Modernica, fully utilizing the factory’s extensive technical capabilities.
Before and Further is inspired by the the individual life experiences of DABSMYLA, and explores their mystical union and shared balance of love, creativity, friendship and sexuality. The significance of two becoming one is most essential to DABSMYLA, in their work and even more importantly in their role as husband and wife. This edition is limited to 2,500 copies and features a 16 page section of drawings and sketches made in preparation for the exhibition.
